Where Are the Test Centres?

The Life in the UK Test is taken at designated test centres across the UK. There are over 60 test centres in England, Scotland, and Wales. They are usually located in major cities and towns.

How to Find Your Nearest Centre

  1. Go to the official booking website: gov.uk/life-in-the-uk-test
  2. Enter your postcode or town
  3. You'll see a list of available test centres nearby
  4. Choose the most convenient one when booking

Major Test Centre Locations

Some of the main test centres include:

  • London — multiple centres across the city
  • Birmingham
  • Manchester
  • Leeds
  • Glasgow
  • Edinburgh
  • Cardiff
  • Bristol
  • Sheffield
  • Newcastle
  • Liverpool
  • Nottingham

What to Expect on Test Day

  1. Arrive early — at least 15 minutes before your scheduled time
  2. Bring ID — a valid passport or UK photo card driving licence
  3. Bring your booking confirmation
  4. No personal items — you'll need to store belongings in a locker
  5. Security check — similar to airport security
  6. The test — 24 multiple-choice questions on a computer screen
  7. Results — you'll see your score immediately after finishing

Test Centre Rules

  • No phones, watches, or electronic devices in the test room
  • No bags or personal items
  • No food or drink (except water in a clear bottle)
  • No talking to other test takers
  • If you need to leave during the test, your exam ends

What If There's No Centre Near You?

If there's no test centre in your area, you may need to travel to the nearest one. Some people travel an hour or more to reach a centre. Plan your journey in advance and consider staying nearby the night before if it's a long distance.

Accessibility

Test centres should be accessible to people with disabilities. If you have specific needs, contact the centre when booking to discuss accommodations.
