The NMC CBT (Computer-Based Test) is a test that overseas-trained nurses must pass to join the Nursing and Midwifery Council register and work as a nurse in the United Kingdom.
The test assesses your numerical skills for safe drug administration and your clinical knowledge across four nursing fields: adult nursing, mental health nursing, child nursing, and learning disabilities nursing.
Once you pass both parts, you can proceed with the rest of the NMC registration process. Our free mock tests help you prepare effectively.

The NMC CBT (Computer-Based Test) is a test that overseas nurses must pass to join the Nursing and Midwifery Council register and work as a nurse in the UK. It consists of two parts: Part A (Numeracy) and Part B (Clinical).
Part A has 15 numeracy questions covering drug calculations, IV drip rates, and clinical maths. Part B has 100 clinical questions covering all four nursing fields.
The NMC does not publish a fixed pass mark. The benchmark most candidates aim for is 80% in each part (12 out of 15 in Part A and 80 out of 100 in Part B), so score as high as you can. Always check the latest requirements on the official NMC website.
The NMC CBT costs £83 for both parts. You book through Pearson VUE and take the test at a test centre or remotely. Resit fees are £50 for Part A only, £70 for Part B only, or £83 for both parts. Fees can change, so always check the current price on the NMC website.
Your NMC CBT result is valid for 2 years. You must complete your NMC registration within this period.
Yes. You have three attempts as part of one application, with a minimum of 10 days between each sitting. You only need to resit the part you failed (Part A, Part B, or both). After three failed attempts, your application closes and you must wait six months before applying again. Focus on your weak areas using our free practice tests.
